Song Story

"Promises" was a song that we wrote when we were just starting out as a band. At the time, I was going through a difficult period in my life, living in a small trailer and struggling to make ends meet. I was working as a worship leader at church, trying to survive day by day. It was a challenging time, but I knew that I had to keep going and trust in God's plan for my life.

My brother, Joe-L. Barnes, who sings this song with me, came to me with the idea for "Promises" about two years ago. We started working on the verses and pre-chorus together, but for some reason, we never quite finished it. It wasn't until right before the COVID-19 pandemic hit that we finally sat down and completed the song.

Looking back, I realize that "Promises" was exactly the song that I needed at that time in my life. It became an anthem that helped me get through the challenges of the pandemic, reminding me that the promises of God are steadfast and unchanging, no matter what season we are in. This song has provided so much encouragement and hope for me, and I am grateful that it has been able to do the same for others.

I hope that this song can serve as a reminder to all of us that our Father is always faithful, and that we can trust in His promises no matter what challenges we may face. Let this song be a reminder to tuck our hearts into the reality that our Father is always there for us, and to anchor our spirits in the truth that He will always make good on His promises. May we never waver, but stand tall on the firm foundation of His love and faithfulness.
